Jamie McCarthy, Watershed Coordinator

Jamie McCarthy was hired as the Watershed Coordinator for the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council (KRWC) in December 2012. She holds a bachelors degree in biology from Calvin College and a masters degree in natural resources management from the University of Michigan. As a graduate student, she worked with the USGS Great Lakes Science Center and NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory. Her graduate work focused on water quality assessments and watershed management planning with the River Raisin Watershed Council.

Before joining the KRWC, Jamie worked for an environmental consulting firm in Kalamazoo. She provided technical assistance to the Kalamazoo River Watershed Management Plan and the Lake Allegan/Kalamazoo River Phosphorus TMDL Implementation Committee. Jamie lives with her husband and son in Portage, near the headwaters of Portage Creek. She enjoys many outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and kayaking.
